6ixty Wings may be a chain, but its wings delight

Can a chain deliver actual good chicken wings? You'd be surprised

While researching another eatery, I stumbled across a Toronto-based chain known as 6ixty Wings.

Unlike other wing joints, 6ixty Wings declare that their wings are “never frozen” and yes it does make a difference.

They opened their doors just this year and if my brief experience is anything to go by, barring any major blunders, this is a franchise operation to watch.

The long-standing wing chain Wild Wings has nothing on 6ixty Wings. In fact my personal opinions are far more strident and I do hope that 6ixty Wings opens more storefronts in Ottawa.

With a name like this you already know what to expect and the selections do run very deep. You have the option of classic, breaded or boneless wings in a variety of combinations.

I opted for a rather classic Buffalo with a blue cheese dressing. It was successfully done as the blue cheese had been sweetened a little to take the sting out of the blue and to balance the heat from the hot sauce.

Most restaurants offer you wings that are fried from a frozen state. They’re brought in by food service companies and kitchen staff throw them in a deep fryer in that condition. The result is a tough wing, seized to the bone. We continue to eat them, however, because they’re a sauce-delivery mechanism.

At 6ixty Wings, you can also actually enjoy fresh, tender chicken properly seasoned, and for something this routine a bar food, it’s refreshing to know that a chain is ready to shake up their segment with higher standards. If you’re in the mood for wings, this is highly recommended.
