Fun and games at Terrasse du Square in Old Chelsea

A grand opening of a wonderful space.

The grand opening of Terrasse du Square in Old Chelsea went off without a hitch. Finally. It had been scheduled for the week before but you know…weather.

Along with local politicians and representatives of Outaouais Tourism, co-owner and CEO of Terrasse du Square Manuela Teixeira was on hand to explain her vision and relief that her long held dream was now a reality.

She launched the Distillerie du Square a year earlier and now the surrounding grounds play host to outdoor movies, a weekly market and live musical acts.

A variety of delicious foods and drinks will be available to visitors who might also want to participate in available games such as the giant Jenga.

I can say with absolute certainty that the soft serve ice cream I enjoyed was the best I’ve had. It had a deep chocolate character and was made from actual dairy and not some frozen edible oil product. I was told by organizers that it is made in-house.

A variety of samples were available from their distillery and I will have reviews of two of their products in Thursday's edition of Capital Eats.

The state of the art distillery also houses a shop and a stylish upstairs cocktail bar as a retreat from the midday sun.

Terrasse du Square will draw even more attention and crowds as the summer rolls on and I’d like to thank Ottawa-based Knock on Wood Communications and Events for organizing a lovely and festive evening.
