Roll your way to happiness at Happy Rolls Ice Cream
Roll up your sleeves for unique ice cream.

Happy Rolls Ice Cream, 1195 Wellington Ave. W.
I’m always up for trying something different when it comes to food and with ice cream being an Achilles heel, it’s easy to succumb.
According to Mohammed (pictured making ice cream), Happy Rolls opened a month ago and already people are discovering the fresh taste of his desserts.
The three friends and business partners Arslan Shaikh, Afnan Liaqat and Shoaib Khan opened Happy Rolls with the idea of offering something a little different for the summer.
They hit on this new and fast growing trend that also has the benefit of being a frozen dessert with few ingredients and nothing unnatural.

I ordered the maple pecan rolled ice cream and watched as Mohammed worked the cream on frozen metal trays. He then added in real syrup and nicely roasted pecans, blending the mass with two metal scrapers and then spreading it over the surface of the tray and allowing it to freeze a little more.
He then scraped it into rolls and added it to a cup which he topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of more maple syrup. What Happy Rolls offers is different but as delicious as any ice cream in Ottawa. Clean label too.
Mohammed was an engaging conversationalist and before I realized it, I’d inhaled my dessert and didn’t order seconds just so I could beat the late afternoon traffic.
Next time, I just need to get there earlier.
