Ottawa's best banh mi opens a new location

A great place to grab a sandwich in Hintonburg

After many months of nail biting, the wait was finally over and Banh Mi Yes celebrated its grand opening at 1129 Wellington St. last Saturday.

The always supportive Coun. Jeff Leiper was in attendance lending a hand with the ribbon cutting and proprietor Phoebe Ha couldn’t have been more delighted.

She and her team were hard at work that day serving locals and within three hours they had sold out of more than 300 sandwiches.

Phoebe had also created dozens of gift boxes featuring her products to give to her neighbours who had put up with months of renovations. That is one considerate business woman.

Yet this is exactly the person I met and wrote about almost 18 months ago: thoughtful and kind with a big heart and a fiercely intuitive business sensibility. She also makes great Vietnamese food.

I was honoured to have been asked to attend this grand opening.
