What's open for lunch?

Looking for a midday meal? We've got you covered

Since the end of the pandemic, it’s often been a challenge to get correct information as to which restaurants are in fact open during lunch hours.

Even visiting a restaurant's website to get accurate opening hours often leads to a dead end. In the last year I’ve wasted many hours driving only to find the restaurant closed. All that nonsense needed to be good for something so I thought I’d compile a list of proper restaurants that I know to be Open for Lunch.

  • Cantina Gia in the Glebe is an old world trattoria delivering top Italian dishes and house made pasta.

  • 98 La La Noodle in the ByWard Market is one of my favorite Asian noodle eateries in Ottawa. Home cooking with bold flavours and big portions for little money.

  • Kitchen Maroo is a top Korean dining destination with a classically trained chef/owner at the helm. You must have their shrimp rolls. New lunch hours are from Friday to Sunday.

  • Table Sodam is another great Korean eatery re-opened again for dine-in lunch.

  • Centertown Donair and Pizza may offer the fluffy and heavy pizzas that locals love but I go for the Halifax donair that brings back so many pleasant memories of my trips to the east coast.

  • Pelican Seafood as Ottawans have long known, offers terrific seafood at fair prices and they’re open for lunch. Just ensure you make a reservation.

  • Ramen Isshin is a welcome addition to the Glebe and represents one of the best ramen restaurants in the city.

  • Jinsei Ramen is the newest ramen eatery on the Ottawa map and is the other really fine ramen restaurant you need to visit.

  • Tamis Cafe offers beautifully made Filipino home cooking that will keep you coming back and their spring rolls are one of Ottawa’s best.

  • Del Piacere on Preston has repeatedly demonstrated to me that not only are they a fine choice for Neapolitan style pizza but for Italian fare of all sorts at good prices.
